 A True Champion

Jasmine - A True Champion.jpg

On 22 May 2015, Jasmine Lin Hui Xin of Secondary 5 Graciousness, displayed empathy towards a member of the public. Mdm Lin is a wheelchair bound lady who needed help alighting from the bus. Jasmine noticed Mdm Lin having difficulty and went forward to help her by extending the ramp from the bus to the pathway, allowing her to alight from the bus with ease. Mdm Lin was touched by Jasmine’s act of kindness and wrote a note to the school to compliment Jasmine’s good deed. “I like to help others as it gives me immense happiness and satisfaction,” Jasmine said. “One of our school values is empathy. My teachers have always reminded us of the importance of helping others in need.”

A true champion indeed!

Native Tree-Planting by Northbrooks Secondary School at Yishun Park Connector

(The following write-up and photographs, extracted from NParks’ intranet site, are used with permission.)

Recently, on the 6th May 2015, staff and students from Northbrooks Secondary School planted a total of 70 saplings along Yishun Park Connector to inject biodiversity into this area. Three native species Memecylon caeruleum, Memecylon edule and Ardisia elliptica were planted under the MRT via-duct, to provide a green belt to break the harshness of the surroundings. The students thoroughly enjoyed the experience and learnt the importance of greenery and the need to care for the environment.
