Please Note: The General Office will be closed at 5.00 pm during the school holidays

When will the school side gates be open?

Side gates: 6.30 am - 6.30 pm

  • All visitors are to enter from the main gate and report to the security post.
  • Students may enter the side gates from 6.30am and exit at the end of curriculum time till 6.30 pm

What are the operating hours of the school bookshop?

Bookshop: 9.00 am - 2.30 pm

Currently, my child is studying in XXX School. As we will be shifting to Yishun, we wish to transfer my child to Northbrooks Sec Sch. What are the procedures for applying for transfer to Northbrooks Sec Sch?

Do email us at northbrooks@moe.edu.sg or write directly to us at 585 Yishun Ring Road. Singapore 768692 with the child’s information. Please indicate the level, stream and nationality.

How do I become a member of the Northbrooks Parent Support Group?

All parents are considered a part of Northbrooks Parent Support Group.

How do I become a member of the Northbrooks Alumni?

Teaching and Learning

As of 2018 Sec 1: 2 Exp, 2 NA, 1 NT Classes

What is the percentage of students who are able to get into poly / JC?

As of 2017, an estimate of:

  • JC: 25%
  • Pre-U: 60%
  • Poly: 80%

Is my child able to get laterally transferred from NT to NA, NA to Express? If so, what are the criteria?

Students have to score an average of 70% across all their subjects to be considered.
(Please refer to page 34 of student handbook for further details)

Are the teachers willing to give extra lesson if students are weak in their subjects?

Academic coaching will be provided for students who need extra help and students can also approach teachers for consultation after school.

CCAs


1.        

What are the CCAs that the school offers?

The school offers 18 CCAs across 4 different groups.

  • UG: NCC (Air), NPCC, Red Cross, Boys Brigade
  • Sports: Floorball (boys), Basketball, Badminton, Rugby
  • Visual and Performing Arts: Concert Band, Guzheng, Modern Dance, Drama Club, Photography Club, Environmental Art Club
  • Clubs: Youth Flying Club, Infocom Club, AVA Club, Outdoor Adventure Club

2.        

Are there CCAs on Saturday?

Only for special programmes or activities

3.        

Will the Express Stream students be directly accepted into YFC?

No. Admission is based on our CCA admission procedures. There will also be an interview for students who are interested in joining YFC.

4.        

What are the criteria for admission to YFC?

As stipulated by Singapore YFC

  • Singapore Citizen
  • Healthy and no major illnesses
  • No asthma and not obese
  • Eyesight requirements
    • Short-sighted – below 300 deg each eye
    • Not colour blind
    • No other eye deficiencies

How is the CCA selection done in the school?

  • Try-outs for sports and performing arts will be conducted for students to have an experience of various CCAs
  • Students’ choice
  • Vacancy in each CCA based on the resources available for each CCA
